CUSTOM LOGO FAQ
Please note: In addition to the custom logo FAQ below, there is also a regular FAQ in place at www.strictlylogos.com/faq.asp
Where should I submit my logo/artwork?
All logo and artwork submissions should be sent to logospecs@strictlylogos.com.
What kind of format can I submit my logo to you in?
We only accept logos in digital formats. These include the following: .jpg .bmp .tiff .pdf .psd
The size and resolution of the digital picture that you send us is very important. In order to create a high quality logo, you have to send us a very high quality digital picture. In general, the higher the resolution the better. The same goes for photo size, which should at least match the size of the printing to be done. Because of this, some products require bigger and/or more detailed digital pictures than others (For example, T-Shirts require the largest pictures and highest resolution). At an absolute minimum, the resolution should be 150 dpi (dots per inch) at whatever size your logo will be printed at. We recommend 300 dpi and up! Please realize that the higher quality picture you send us, the higher quality your final product will turn out to be.
Also, please make sure to include all of the basic elements of your logo in your email to us, including: Fonts, layers, and paths.
What dimensions should my logo be in?
Of course, your logo can be of any relative dimensions. However, each product has different print/engraving dimensions of its own, and hence the closer your logo's relative dimensions are to the product's print/engraving dimensions, the larger your logo will turn out to be.
As an example, consider the two products below and the way different logos will end up being produced:

As you can see, the logo on the left fits much better into the maximum relative logo dimensions than the logo on the right. Because of this, it can be printed at a larger overall size. Note that this is a digital rendering, and not the real result of a logo being printed onto this particular product.
Should I specify the colors of the digital logo I send to you?
Although we can obtain the colors from the digital logo you send, you can send us more specific color information by specifying the Pantone colors that are being used in your logo from the Pantone Palette. Pantone is the color standard for the printing world, and you can find out more about it at http://www.colorguides.net/pantone.html. You can view a complete list at http://www.strictlylogos.com/colorchart.asp.
Are the colors I see for my logo on my computer monitor the same as the ones you will use to produce my product?
No. Colors appear differently on different monitors, and are rendered differently by different printing equipment. This is why it is helpful to specify Pantone colors (see above). However, even in the case that you specify a Pantone color, we cannot guarantee that your product will perfectly match that exact Pantone color. Because different techniques and equipment are applied to different types of products, absolute standardization is not possible between all products. Also, embroidery (thread) colors will be slightly different than printing colors, and more reflective.
How many colors can my logo contain?
Your logo can have as many colors as an individual product allows or however many you paid for, whichever number is lower (some products have no additional charge for printing the maximum amount of colors – for example, our hats).
Will my logo turn out exactly like the digital logo I send to you?
Unfortunately, it is not always possible to print your logo exactly as you send it to us. There may be slight variations in color, size, shading and shape, depending on the nature of the product and the particular manufacturer of a product. However, these differences are small and quite normal when producing logo engraved or printed products. |
